Off-duty OB2 Lifeguards Help in Weekend Rescue Effort
The beautiful weather this past weekend drew large crowds to the beach to enjoy the sunshine. Unfortunately, the ocean wasn’t cooperating quite as much as the weather and, as a result, several patrons found themselves stuck in rip currents.
On Saturday, six off-duty current and former Ocean Beach II lifeguards, as well as a surfer, took to the water in a rescue effort of the three struggling patrons. Within 10 minutes of the incident occurring, the victims were brought to shore safely. All of the victims have been reported in good health, despite one of them being taken to Community Medical Center for a check-up.
This incident is just a reminder of how dangerous and powerful the ocean can be. All patrons visiting the beach over the course of the next week are strongly encouraged to use caution when going in the water. Lifeguards will be on duty beginning June 23rd!
