OB2 Guards surf into Silver Beach with 2 Teams
Another Saturday night is in the books for the Summer 2018 season, with the Ocean Beach 2 lifeguards participating in the annual Silver Beach Lifeguard Tournament! This year’s event saw our illustrious guards enter two different teams into the event, both enjoying success throughout the evening.
When the final flag was dropped, we saw OB2’s Attaché team (OB2-A) ring in the 2nd Place Overall finish. Not to be outdone, OB2’s B-Team (OB2-B) rang in a few victories themselves, most notably taking 3rd place in the fiercely competitive Paddle Relay.
“We got to take Silver in Silver; you’ve got to love the humor in that,” said senior guard Dylan Rooney, who holds the local record in the shuttle run.
When asked about the grueling row, Mikey ‘The Myth’ Tanejewski added, “I gain my inspiration from two of our former all star guards who set the rowing record in the Jack Wright 15-mile row; I’m not sure what kind of rower I’d be today had it not been for watching the two of them while I grew up.”
The guards were welcomed home by our neighbors in Seacrest, who had a live band playing classic tunes upon their arrival in celebration of the victory.
