OB2 Roars to Victory in Home-beach Win; Honors Pat Daley with Tournament Dedication

In a long-overdue gesture, the lifeguards of Ocean Beach & Yacht Club unveiled the new name of their annual lifeguard tournament: the Pat Daley Classic, paying homage to one of the greatest staples our community has ever seen.

And in a display of the ultimate tribute, the OB2 Guards took first in each and every event – dominating their way to the gold medal.

“It was a performance not seen since the inaugural tournament back in the early 2000’s,” said former guard and casual runner Scott DeBennedette.  “It really inspired me; it made me want to throw on the old checkered shorts and do another end of summer run.”

Despite the consistent threat of impending storms, the tournament happened as planned.  The entire community is grateful, as it proved to be an enjoyable evening for onlookers and competitors.

Great job by all of our OB2 Guards!  Way to make us proud.
