Catherine Zack age 94, of Lakewood, NJ passed away on May 28, 2023, at home while surrounded by her family. She was born in New York and lived in Union, NJ prior to moving to Brick in 1971.
Catherine was a parishioner at Church of the Visitation; as a parishioner she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society; she was very involved with her community, Catherine served as the chaplain for the VFW Post 8867 where she also worked as a poll worker for 42 years, was a member of the Community First Aid, Brick, and a member of the Hummingbirds Arts and Crafts Group in Brick.
In between all her volunteer work Catherine worked for Macy’s at the Ocean County Mall for 18 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Zack and grandson Christopher E. Whalen.
Surviving Catherine are her daughters, Kathleen Kumke and her husband Daniel, and Arleen Mary Zack; Two grandchildren, Kelsey Whalen, and Matthew Kumke; her sister Joan Zimmerman; she is also survived by her niece Joann Zimmerman.
A viewing for Catherine will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 2 pm to 6 pm at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 11 am at Church of the Visitation. The committal will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
