OB2 Lifeguards Win 1st Place at Normandy Beach Tournament
Tournament season is upon us!
In the first of many for the 2018 summer season, the Ocean Beach 2 Lifeguard Squad secured 1st Place in the 25th Annual Normandy Beach Lifeguard Tournament on July 8th. The event, which saw the OB2 Guards topple 8 other lifeguard squads, was the first taste of competition for many of our rookie staff members.
Their victory was also covered extensively by the Asbury Park Press, in an editorial on the Normandy Beach Lifeguard tournament. “It’s a great way to start the season,” said co-captain Marc De Lorenzo. “Our guards train hard every day, and it’s a nice feeling to get rewarded with a big victory.”
“This win sets the berm high,” added co-captain and Beach Supervisor Michael Barrett. “And it’s motivating our squad to reach for the proverbial oar lock key for the rest of the season.”
We’re excited to see what the rest of the summer brings for our illustrious squad.
In the mean time, we invite you to relive the entire tournament through the lens of our resident photography expert, Joseph Golebieski, in the gallery below (Note: there are 7 gallery pages).
