OBYC Mourns the Loss of Jim Truhe, Long Time Resident & Generous Volunteer
James H. “Jim” Truhe, Sr. of Lavallette, NJ, formerly of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2015 at the age of 82.
Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Monday at 8:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church in Union at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at St. Theresa Cemetery in Summit. Visitation is on Sunday from 2-6 PM.
Born on Feb. 11, 1933 and raised in Union, NJ, Mr. Truhe recently divided his time between Lavallette, NJ and Venice, FL. He was the Chief of Police in Union Township for 36 years and Director of Public Safety for the police and fire departments for 2 years until he retired in 1994. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army. Among many other organizations, he was a member of the NJ State Association of Chiefs of Police, the Union County Chiefs of Police, International Association of Chiefs of Police, the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Jim was married for 62 years to his high school sweetheart, Angela Truhe (nee Petruzziello). He was the loving father of Alice Napolitano and her husband, Peter, of Lavallette, NJ and James H. Truhe, Jr. and his wife, LeeAnn, of Lehighton, PA. He was also the adoring grandfather of Christopher Truhe and his fiancée Allison Eskew of Andreas, PA; Vinny Napolitano and his wife, Victoria, of Moorestown, NJ; Kristy Dynak and her husband, Andrew, of Freehold, NJ; and Shawn Truhe of Lehighton, PA. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved brothers, Herbert, John, and Robert Truhe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society, Astra Zeneca Hope Lodge of Cheltenham, PA. in his memory.
